Via Sacra from Vienna to Mariazell pilgrim guidebook - Esterbauer verlag

There are two main marked trails leading from Vienna to Mariazell. While the Via Sacra runs mainly through the valleys along traditional routes, the pilgrimage route from Vienna also passes through the middle of the Viennese Alpine Forest.

Both tracks have a length of 110 to 130 Kilometers, and at least 4000 meters of vertical drop must be overcome the total distance. The journey takes place in 4 to 5 days.

There are several branches, in which a change from one to the other is possible, or so many variants, so it is possible to divide the road according to its own interests.

As long stretches of Via Sacra take place along bike paths, about a third of the total distance is on hard ground with as a reward to visit many cultural gems.
